How to Prepare for Your Branding Photography Session

These days, you can get just about anything on the fly–DoorDash dinners, gadgets from Amazon, your favorite shows… However, some things deserve some extra time and attention. There’s a reason people invest in professional branding photography instead of using free stock images. They’re just better. Like you, your customers notice good quality when they see it. Your brand deserves high-quality images that will make your marketing tactics pop–images that authentically reflect your brand.

Marketing strategy and branding involves many moving parts, imagery being one of them. For planning purposes, I recommend reaching out at least one month before you need your images, if not sooner. It’s not just about the photographer’s schedule—I’m happy to squeeze people in whenever I can—it’s about the time it takes to create those amazing images you so deserve.

What to Expect Your Branding Photography Session

I may be the artist, but you are the brand. My goal is to capture the essence of your brand as authentically and convincingly as possible. However, we’ll need to work together to make the magic happen. From start to finish, here’s a peek into the process:

Planning

First, we’ll begin by drawing up some plans. I’ll need to learn more about your brand, vision, mission, and overall style. As an experienced branding photographer, I’ll walk you through this part as seamlessly and quickly as possible. We’ll define your vision and goals for your images, and then I’ll start piecing together the design from there! Feel free to share a mood board or any brainstorming notes with me – I’d love to hear your ideas.

After clarifying your vision, we’ll figure out the logistics of the shoot: location, props and backdrops, products only, or models included. Depending on the design and availability, we may need to account for prop and backdrop sourcing, too. I utilize some fantastic vendors, but it may take some time to gather what we need.

Scheduling

And action! With everything in place, it’s time to shoot. We’ll schedule a time for your branding photography session. (Or, if the images involve products only, I’ll go ahead and do the shoot as soon as everything is in place.)

After the shoot, I’ll go through and fine-tune your images until they sparkle and shine! The editing process typically takes 1-2 weeks, depending on the complexity and number of images. I can give you a better estimate when we discuss your particular project. For instance, if you plan on doing both stop-motion clips and still photos, that would take a bit longer than three personal branding images. There’s no one size fits all timeline because each brand and client is so unique!branding photography

Final consult

Once your images are ready, I’ll send them over to you for final approval. These images will be featured front and center on your products, marketing materials, and online, so I want to make sure you’re happy with every detail. During the final consult, we’ll wrap everything up and go over all those fun “how and where to use them” deets. Then, you’ll be ready to go with a collection of photos that outshines the competition!branding photography
