Underbelly Pandemic Response Food Photography

Going from a bustling neighborhood favorite hangout to a takeout-only establishment is not an easy task. Underbelly in San Diego has switched to a 100% takeout menu (&bar!) to comply with health codes during the pandemic. Here we have Underbelly pandemic response photography.

They’ve got a perfect location, amazing outdoor patio, and some of my favorite ramen here in San Diego. They’ve worked hard to be able to continue to operate under the almost-daily new restrictions to essential businesses in the state of California.

Chef Tony invited me to photograph his restaurant and staff operating within these new parameters. Like all other restaurants, there are very few employees, no seating and everything has been prepared in to-go containers.

The pandemic has really shown a sense of community in the industry that I have never seen before. I feel it too with my clients, my industry friends & fellow small business owner friends.

Underbelly has been doing a collaboration with local bars to provide their cocktails as to-go drinks! So amazing since bars can’t be open right now. Today’s collaboration was with Noble Experiment. They provided drinks prepared and sealed in small to-go bottles right on the spot! It was great to be able to photograph their pandemic response, too!

Thank you again to Chef Tony & the crew at Underbelly for letting me sneak around for a bit with my camera.
