Donna Jean Pandemic Response Photography

I’ve been trying to think about what I can do NOW rather than “when this is over.” What can I give to an industry that’s suffering just as much, if not more, than mine? What can I give when I don’t have an income for an indefinite amount of time? Just because I don’t have work doesn’t mean that I don’t have my talents! My first guest/guinea pig: Donna Jean pandemic response photography project.

Even though this isn’t the ~greatest~ of times, this crisis is something that each of us will remember for the rest of our lives. It’s still memorable & I think that makes it important to document. And the point of this project isn’t for me to focus on the terribleness that we are currently living, but to show the lighting-fast adaptation and resilience of these restaurants to survive in a non-ideal situation. When you base your work around your passion – you’ll do just about anything to make it work.

The first restaurant I chose to document was Donna Jean – for obvious reasons. They are my people. My number one angels. Vegan wizards. There is nothing more that I want right now than for this restaurant to make it through the coronavirus I hope these photos bring awareness to those that have no idea the devastation that this pandemic is causing the restaurant industry.

Donna Jean has done an incredible job dealing with COVID19 in San Diego. They’re showing their resilience and quick adaptation to everything that is changing day-to-day.

I love everything about what this restaurant stands for. I love its people. I love the food. I love the talent and teamwork and work ethic that each employee exhibits here.
